On a breezy Saturday, over a cup of coffee – a group of four sat sharing their urge to do more in service. A doctor’s compassion for underpreviledged women and children, an NRI’s dream to help Indians, a friend’s concern for economically backward youngsters and a sympathetic executive’s focus helped turn a vision a reality. The seed of ASCT was sown in 1998.

The seed sprouted to become a seedling. Today after six years ASCT stands firm, away from glare of publicity, spreading its branches to serve needy children, students, bright youngsters and neglected women.

When the Trust was founded in 1998 contribution started trickling from friends and well wishers. Trustees contributed to share a large moiety of expenses untill generous financial help came from Daya Gopal Trust, U.S.A., channelised by one of the trustees to boost the welfare network of the Trust.

The first cheque from ASCT went to help forty five boys of Snehalaya homes for destitute children. Help offered to a poor women to start home catering to fend for her three school-going children. A sewing machine to teenager Anusha,a loan for a bicycle to a sales girl peddling the streets of Bangalore.

Numerous other welfare activities followed. ASCT scholarships for bright poor girl students, four classrooms for Ambedkar School, uniforms and books for over a hundred, a food mela for the physically challenged, picnics for orphans and awards for the meritorious.

Two years ago the Centre for Learning was started to impart holistic education to the underprivileged.
